The Mikhail Naimy Mimasuna Experience

Abstract

Mikhail Naimy (October 1889 - February 1988) is a renowned Lebanese international thinker that has more than thirty published books around the world. He spent his last twenty years in his Zalka home (Zalka, a northern suburb to Beirut) with his niece May Najeeb Naimy and her daughter Suha (me). After his departure, his home was gradually turned to a home-museum. Now, there is focus on transforming the whole experience to the Mimasuna Experience (Mi=Mikhail, Ma=May, Su=Suha, Na=Naimy). Mikhail Naimy published four books in his Zalka home, and he left behind many priceless manuscripts, photos, letters, unpublished works, books dedicated to him, first book editions, personal belongings, interviews in obsolete magazines and in old ones. All will be exhibited in one place, one museum. There will be meditation rooms that follow his philosophy: the Mirdadish mediatation (following his prime book of philosophy The Book of Mirdad). The viewer will know Naimy’s life phases, his literary works, and his last twenty years with May and Suha through the interactive exhibited details. Naimy has already documented his first seventy years of his life through his own autobiography that he wrote when he was seventy years old. The Mimasuna Experience museum focuses on documenting the last twenty years that are not documented.
