Abstract
This research explores the AI and costume design intersection in theatre, analyzing the benefits and drawbacks of AI integration in this artistic field. It emphasizes AI’s growing significance in theatre. It investigates the advantages of AI in costume design, highlighting efficiency, cost-effectiveness, creativity, customization, and time-saving potential. Conversely, it addresses AI’s limitations, such as the loss of a human touch, ethical concerns, creativity constraints, costs, and data security. The study presents case studies of theatre productions using AI in costume design, illustrating both successful and problematic applications. It speculates on AI’s future in costume design, considering trends and innovations. In an increasingly ethically conscious society, the research emphasizes the need to address ethical challenges, ensuring responsible and culturally sensitive AI usage. In conclusion, this research offers a comprehensive understanding of AI’s role in theatre costume design, showcasing its potential benefits and challenges.
