Icons of the Faith: Readymade Images

Abstract

As an object maker, I see the forms that I make as combinations of images. By using commercial molds, with their readily accessible imagery, I have an easily-accessible shorthand to connect with the viewers and convey meaning. These symbols and images can then manipulated and reassembled over and over again. The juxtaposition of these disparate icons into novel compositions calls into question the institutions that the molds were originally created to endorse and helps to draw attention to the inherent discrepancies and blatant hypocrisies of life in the 21st century.
