Abstract
Our undergraduate psychiatric nursing class addresses opioid addiction and our students have responded well to live actors playing the part of opioid addicted patients. This has been such a success that we are doing mixed methods research involving a live actor and pre/post testing. Our students rave about it every semester and are usually caught off guard with having people challenge them. Unlike in the hospital where they are given compliant patients– this simulation tests their endurance and ability to critically think.
