Abstract
We often see that people are concerned about their body shape. The media plays a significant role in defining how people should look, particularly women. The electronic media and social environment have a great impact on their lives. This research assesses the body image responses among women of different age groups in India. A total of 345 women of varying age groups were selected for the purpose of the study. The women chosen for the study were categorized under four age groups: 25 to 30 years, 31 to 35 years, 36 to 40 years, and 41 to 45 years. The “Body Shape Questionnaire” developed by Cooper.et.al (1986) was employed to find out the body shape concern among different age groups of women. The data was analyzed with the help of descriptive statistics, frequency and percentage, and one way ANOVA. This paper will present the findings of this research, and explore the nature of body concern for women in India.
