Complex Regional Pain Syndrome/Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy: Containing the Fire

Abstract

Have you ever felt your hand or foot on fire twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week? Patients with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) endure this on a daily basis. There is no cure for CRPS, but instead there are a combination of treatments that temporarily manage the symptoms. This focused discussion covers the types of CRPS, causes, symptoms, pathophysiology, diagnosis, prognosis and management. Additionally, this session will increase awareness of this rare and new disorder.
