Systematic Review of Evidence on the Design of "Housing with Care" for Older People

Abstract

The design of research for housing with care has largely been reported in a descriptive way. No formal assessment of the quality of evidence for housing to support independent living for older people has been done previously. As the concept of healthcare building is extends to support the quality of life for housing in older people and the evidence-based design protocol is becoming noted, this study is aims to review the current state of evidence for designing housing with care according to the level of evidence in published academic literature. A systematic literature review of bibliographic databases (Scopus, MEDLINE, CINAHL) is being conducted to identify studies of housing designs that aim to build an independent living environment for older people and housing with care. This study is going to show how rigorous the current evidence are and how can we make the recommendations on the future design of housing with care.
