Simulation of the Hydrological Performance of Green Roofs for Rain Events Using Software: Implementation in Pasto, Colombia - a Sustainable Alternative

Abstract

This research is related to the study of the behavior of green roofs in runoff events from a simulation by means of the EPA SWMM software. The study takes into account how a green roof module should be built, the adjustment of the hydrometeorological variables, mainly an analysis of the behavior of precipitation is carried out. This study demonstrates the need to implement green roof modules in the city of Pasto, Nariño for flood prevention, in addition to the environmental benefits that the implementation of this type of technology can produce. The AHP methodology was applied, for the selection of a suitable alternative to choose a suitable model for green roofs. Hydrometeorological data are downloaded from the IDEAM system to simulate a rain event in the city, during the month of November 2019.
