The Design of Engine with Zero Emitted Pollutants

Abstract

Two major emitted gases from combustion engines pollute the environment. They are nitrogen oxide (NOx) and carbon dioxide (CO2). In this study, a redesigned engine is considered, which extracts nitrogen from the air before combustion and carbon dioxide after combustion. The result is that with no nitrogen, nitrogen oxide is not formed. Therefore it cannot eat up the ozone layer. With no effluent carbon dioxide, the impact on global warming is lessened.
