Risk Perception - Psychological Impact of Political Communication Regarding COVID Rife : Comparative Analysis of Pakistan and America's Twiplomacy

Abstract

This study shines a light upon the United Nation’s global agenda of sustainable development goal “Health Risk Communication “under the umbrella of political communication regarding COVID-19 pandemic. The main impetus for conducting this research is to evaluate America and Pakistan’s digital media diplomatic communication which is known as “DIGIPLOMACY.” The researcher evaluates Twitter’s content, termed “twiplomacy,” around COVID-19. Underlying the study id a quantitative method: survey method for Pakistan and America; as well as content analysis - Twitter’s content of both country’s officials to explore digital media, Twitter’s content regarding health risk communication of COVID-19 and its political communication creating psychological impact on general public. The research uses multiple theories to strengthen the skeleton of study - Social Responsibility Theory, Cognitive Theory and Digital Diplomacy Theory.
