Retirement Risk Analysis of Your Knowledge Makers: Find the Core Experts in Strategic Knowledge Topics

Abstract

My passion for knowledge management started just like many start-ups are born: we experienced a problem in our day-to-day work. We got fed up with it and we went on a mission to solve it. That is where our project ExpertFinder was born. We aimed to solve the core knowledge management challenge of finding the knowledge we needed for our job in a big organization (Canon R&D in Venlo). We solved this problem and with our approach, we were able to map knowledge in the organization by connecting knowledge topics with people. This made it much quicker and more efficient to find the right people for certain projects and for solving specific questions. The purpose of the session is to share how to find out where your key knowledge makers are and how to conduct a retirement risk analysis to ensure business continuity. We will present a real business case we worked on with a client where the job to be done was the following: a large group of employees would retire soon, top management wanted to know if any core experts were in this retiree group. a large group of employees would retire soon, top management wanted to know if any core experts were in this retiree group.
