Rendering of Black People in Digital Spaces: The Symptoms of Systemic Racist Representation of Black People that Exist in Contemporary Digital Spaces

Abstract

This paper reviews of the representation of Black people and society’s attitudes towards race and technology. This is used to construct an epistemic domain using the principles outlined by D. Fox Harrel in Phantasmal Media. This forms the basis for revealing the cultural model in which video games have been produced and the development of computer graphics. This cultural model is used to show how racist biases continue to exist in modern video game development along social and technological axes.
