Reducing Carbon Emissions in Education Institution: Utilization of Environmentally Friendly Technology

Abstract

This study evaluates the contributors to carbon dioxide emissions taking into account the operational activities of the institution and use this as basis for adapting environmentally friendly technology. Mixed method was utilized to determine the operational contributors such as the scope and amount of carbon dioxide emitted as well as the awareness of students, teachers, non-teaching personnel about the policies on contributors of Carbon Dioxide. Human respirations, electricity consumption, LPG consumption in canteen and laboratories, gas combustions of the different vehicles entering the institution were analyzed. Awareness of the students, teachers and non-teaching personnel about the operational contributors and policies of the institution were determined and described.
