Environmental Assessment and Mentoring: A Case Study in Amman, Jordan

Abstract

This paper investigates the connection between sustainability and the building sector using a case study of a 240-square-meter healthcare facility located in King Hussein Business Park, Amman, Jordan. Using a LEED environmental assessment rating system as a benchmark for this case study assessment, the study assessment combines qualitative insights into user experience by making observations and POE techniques with them and quantitative evaluations of energy consumption and environmental impact by generating an energy simulation model using Revit to optimize the environmental impact of the building and be able to give suggestions and solutions to reduce this impact. The generated Revit model enhances precision in analyzing the building’s sustainability metrics and comparing them with other similar case studies. Results will highlight areas for improvement and propose recommendations about how to improve sustainability and minimize the environmental impact of the building on the environment, as well as discuss the major mistakes that professionals in industry make that harm and affect the environment and building performance itself. The findings contribute to a nuanced understanding of the interplay between environmental assessment methodologies and their effectiveness in enhancing the environmental performance of buildings in general and healthcare centers specifically, ultimately advocating for sustainable practices and positive change in the sector.
