Abstract

In my PhD study, I am legally comparing environmental NGO roles in Germany, Sweden and Russia. Germany and Sweden are members of EU and Council of Europe and Russia used to be a member of the latter one, so the situation in them is very different to each other. The historical background is also different because of the USSR. For this research, I interviewed environmental activists from all these three countries and considered important cases when activists had received a penalty because of their actions.
