Analysis of Citespace-based Visualization of 3D Fashion Design Trends

Abstract

With the rapid advancement of science and technology, the realm of 3D fashion design has garnered significant attention and momentum in recent years, rendering remarkable contributions to everyday clothing and functional wearables. The advent of 3D technology has revolutionized conventional garment production techniques, enabling faster and more convenient garment design processes. Nevertheless, the field of 3D apparel design remains largely uncharted territory, lacking a cohesive direction due to its interdisciplinary nature. Scholars from various disciplines have yet to define this research domain, which has resulted in a fragmented landscape. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the current research status and emerging trends in 3D technology applied to apparel design, this study employs a quantitative research method for literature analysis. Using the CiteSpace software, this study visually and analytically explores 1532 articles on “3D fashion design” published between 2000 and 2022 in the Web of Science (WOS) core database. The visual analysis encompasses the annual publication trends, author collaborations, institutional affiliations, national collaborations, keyword clustering, and the evolutionary trajectory of research themes within these articles. By meticulously reviewing and analyzing the literature, this study systematically categorizes the current research status, identifies the research hotspots, and unveils the frontier trends in the field of 3D fashion design. The findings are presented through a comprehensive knowledge map, providing researchers and professionals in related fields with valuable insights and visual representations of research information - providing a theoretical basis for the sustainable development of apparel design.
