The Brazilian Amazon and Blue Economy Perspective

Abstract

In 2023, the preservation of water resources is an important dimension of the global economy strive for a sustainable, equitable and inclusive economic development and growth strategy. The preservation of water resources is an important component in the advancement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in the development of a sustainable global Blue Economy. This paper elaborates on the water resource management and water governance challenges and opportunities facing Brazil’s Amazon region. This paper introduces a Quintuple Helix and a Quadruple Helix framework of analysis to assess the promises and challenges facing the development and establishment of a sustainable Blue Economy in Brazil’s Amazon region.
