Circular Economy and Energy Use of Waste

Abstract

The aim of this study is to discuss the idea of a circular economy and the possibilities of using given waste fractions, especially those from which electricity or heat can be easily obtained. The authors put forward the thesis that striving for 100% recycling of all waste fractions, including their reuse, is economically unjustified, and in relation to some waste fractions, their transformation into biogas or by incineration into heat and electricity is the best management. The research method adopted is a literature review on the essence of circular economy, including showing the way of managing given waste fractions. Materials from incineration plants and biogas plants showing the energetic uses of waste are also presented.
