Global Environmental Effects and a Proposal for a Solution: Decentering Sustainability

Abstract

All environmental components, whether natural or artificial, are constantly converted following the priorities of global investment. Cities have shifted from centers of production to centers of consumption. Concentrating on increased earnings savings destroys the urban environment; it causes irreversible environmental damage. The balance between development and the environment cannot be achieved due to the unavoidable impact of globalization; therefore, in addition to the legal initiatives, it is primarily necessary to raise public awareness. Environmental education is a critical component of this movement. Environmentally-conscious individuals can give insight into environmental problems. Environmental education can potentially shift people’s attitudes toward the environment in a positive direction. As a proposed plan, environmental education actions are considered within the scope of this imperial research that deals with environmental problems as a reflection of global environmental problems.
