Cultural Sustainability and Sustainable Heritage Development: A Cross-Cultural Study Between Brazil and the United States

Abstract

As the need to improve the quality of life increases, more governments around the world are working to integrate sustainability into the decision-making process at all levels. Social, economic and environmental are the most discussed topics. Lately, culture has also emerged as a prospect and research on cultural sustainability is heavily present in Europe (Zorich, 2003; Elnokaly & Elseragy, 2013; Dessein et. al, 2015; Palang et. al, 2017; Pop et.al, 2019). This study focuses on organizations that value cultural sustainability and the unique aspects of society in Brazil and the United States. It discusses organizations using sustainability projects to promote growth of cultural heredity and the construction of the individual’s cultural identity.
