Education for Poverty Reduction Through Co-operation: Projects and Aid Complexity

Abstract

This research addresses quality education for sustainable development and its results on poverty reduction. This issue takes into account international co-operation as world actors promote and contribute to a culture of peace, global citizenship, respect for cultural diversity, and human rights as a drive toward sustainable development and aid sustainability. The study advances in the observation of Agenda 2030 having as a central research component Sustainable Development Goal 4 - Quality Education, target 4.7 - education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles. This paper provides an overview of different concepts for the new landscape of sustainable development in which new approaches and attempts are needed to conceptualize the future of education and aid architecture. In this context, considering the field of epistemology and by the theory review, we introduce the theories of complexity, development and dependence in reference to Edgar Morin, Amartya Sen, and Samir Amin. From the results of our study, specifically the example of African reality, Mozambique, it is possible to show how contents and activities lack in international aid projects and the main factors that constrain and enable to the aimed progress results to achieve poverty reduction.The paper concludes bringing critical insights to bear on possibilities for designing projects or programs that could change poverty frame reality in developing countries in order to benefit all from a different co-operation approach.
