Abstract
The Tabo Monastery, located in Tabo village in the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh (India) has been in existence since 996AD. The area is a cold desert, and the material of construction of the Tabo Monastery was in accordance with the weather pattern that was historically observed in the region (which is located in a Cold Desert). However, man-made development activities have led to alterations in weather patterns, including rainfall; have resulted in difficulties for the Tabo Monastery to adapt to the altered weather patterns. The study proposes to ascertain the impact of changing weather patterns on the Tabo Monastery, and to recommend measures to ensure adaptation.
