Abstract
In the US Midwest, specifically, Wisconsin, is facing problems in the water. The great majority of consumption comes from groundwater which is most of the time used for farming purposes. Researchers have found approximately 42000 private wells which have high levels of nitrate. Pesticides, as well as CAFOs, are said to be the main cause of contamination. Regulation has been made to overcome this problem and a budget has been made to improve the quality of water. This study explores how politicians and communities are working together to solve this problem, which is growing even though Wisconsin is well known for having lots of water resources.
