Resiliency and Empowerment for ChangeMakers

Abstract

Committed social change advocates face all the normal human challenges everyone else faces AND the added difficulty of sitting in the middle of big, painful world issues day in and day out. It’s a lot. This interactive ChangeMaker Empowerment workshop will provide conference participants with practical, proven tools and strategies for reducing stress, increasing optimism, and tapping more of our personal and collective power as social change agents. Einstein noted that, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” That makes sense, and yet it can be hard to shift to a different way of approaching things when we are so focused on the problem and immersed in the battlefields of politics, media sensationalism, and polarized opinions. There are plenty of leadership and corporate training programs out there, but this is the first resiliency and empowerment training designed especially for social advocates. The results we deliver in the outer environment - the causes we care about, our families and relationships - are utterly dependent upon the work we do in our own inner environments. ChangeMaker Empowerment trainings provide strategies and tools for clearing any pollution in our inner environments in order to enable the important work we are doing to better our outer environment and world. This interactive, experiential workshop will empower conference participants in developing healthier work life balance and greater efficacy in their work.
