Commercialization of Sports as Global Entertainment Platform: How Football Should Adapt to Compete for the Time of the People in a Tough Competitive Environment

Abstract

This study explores football and sports in general as a way of entertainment and gives examples of projects of football teams / leagues that show how football nowadays is competing in a wider industry which is entertainment, competing with Netflix, Disney, and other entertainment windows (e-sports, youtubers, videogames in general). The purpose is to change minds of attendees of the scope of football. I use results of qualitative research of top football clubs and leagues to portray examples and invite input from others.
