Abstract
We describe how the selection and hiring processes in public management of sport are strongly influenced by political patronage and clientelism. We complete comprehensive analysis of the information, through the implementation of semi-structured interviews. Our research question is: What are the effects of clientelism in the selection and contracting processes of public entities in the sports sector in Medellín? Employees and former employees of a public sports organization in the city of Medellín are involved. We find that selection and hiring are strongly manipulated due to the political quotas of the leaders on duty.
