What Does Learning and Development Look like Post-COVID?: What Professionals Need to Know

Abstract

In the wake of COVID-19 and the ‘new COVID-normal’, organisations around the globe are facing the challenge of moving business operations online, creating digital content, and training staff in new work practices and safe models of operating. Now, more than ever, digital learning and development plays a critical role in surviving and thriving in the COVID- 19 world. Training and development professionals need to pivot and have a prime opportunity to lead change and leadership from the front. While training and development leaders don’t need to ‘do the doing’, they do need to become digital learning natives. In the current era, all training leaders need to understand high-level digital learning concepts, practices, tools, and methodologies to command a seat at the executive table. To allow learning teams to lead organisational change from the front, they need to understand the new learning landscape – and that landscape isn’t training rooms; it’s digital. This presentation provides an overview of the critical digital learning and development strategies your organisational unit should be applying to quickly respond to today’s environment, of how to future proof learning technology, and of how to ride the new digital wave that is already upon us.
