Effect of a Developed Video Instructional Package to Teach Geometric Construction in Basic Technology, Kwara State, Nigeria

Abstract

Information and communication technology (ICT) is a force that has changed many aspects of the way we live. The potential for educational applications of video-based learning/instruction is growing rapidly. Students no longer only have access to a textbook, but to content materials located far beyond the walls of the school building. Resources ones beyond the dreams of all but the most affluent are potentially available to everyone. Pedagogy, that is, teaching and learning in the twenty-first century rely on the use of ICT in achieving learning objectives. This study: (i) examines the attitude of students towards the use of video instructional package for learning (ii) determines the difference between male and female’s students’ attitude towards the use of video instructional package for learning (iii) determines the difference between the academic achievement of students taught with video instruction learning method and their counterparts taught with conventional method (iv) determines the differences in the academic performance of male and female students taught using the video instructional package (v) determines the differences in the academic performance of male and female students taught using conventional method. The study involved two groups, one exposed to the treatments and results collated at the end, this group is the treatment group. The other group, the control group, were taught with the normal conventional method (traditional method) and results also collated. However, both groups were first pretested. This study employs the Video-Instructional Package.
