"The Automated Citizen? Democratic Participation in a Datafied Society" Arne Hintz is Senior Lecturer at the School of Journalism, Media, and Culture at Cardiff University and co-Director of the Data Justice Lab. His research focuses on the practices and conditions of digital citizenship, combining work on citizen media and participation, digital policy, internet governance, surveillance, and datafication. He has led several collaborative research projects, including Digital Citizenship and Surveillance Society: State-Media-Citizen Relations After the Snowden Leaks and Towards Democratic Auditing: Civic Participation in the Scoring Society, and he chairs the Global Media Policy Working Group of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). His publications include, among others, Beyond WikiLeaks (Palgrave, 2013) and Digital Citizenship in a Datafied Society (Polity, 2018).
