Who Is the Artist in an GAI World?: Explorations in Text-to-art Platforms

Abstract

The “next hill” for artists is generative AI technology. The question about human authorship rests on diverse metrics and different perspectives about the history of innovative technology. Questions about training, data sets, ethics, copyright, originality, remuneration (and others) complicate the line between human and GAI model images. The poster highlights these issues between different platforms, toolsets, and human agency in proposing a continuum for answering the question of who the artist is in a GAI world.
