The Interference between New Media and Traditional Media : Assessing the Impact of New Tools on Conventional Content

Abstract

The paper assesses the challenges traditional journalists are facing in digital age, examining the contents of TV news bulletins, depending on the source of the images used. A comparative analysis to explain the current situation compared to 10 years ago when the new media did not know such an amplitude. Analyzing a set of 77 news programs, 862 pieces of news, article assesses the audience participation in news production but also of public institutions that use technology to impose their own messages. The findings suggests that in 2021 the share of news with downloaded content (without being the work of journalists) increased by a third compared to the same period analyzed ten years ago. This raises questions about who sets the agenda, and what is the identity of traditional journalist in the new informational ecosystem.
