Interpersonal Communication Manifest: Gulali Program In Strengthening Students' Characters

Abstract

This study describes interpersonal communication as a manifestation of the implementation of the GULALI (Always Cares Teacher) Program as character strengthening. GULALI program is a term used to realize work programs in terms of character building. In this case, interpersonal communication is a form of mutual understanding, pleasure, mutual influence, good social relations, as well as real action to foster character awareness as feedback between teachers and students. The research method used is a qualitative method with the use of a phenomenological paradigm. The subjects in this study were teachers and students of SMAN 5 Bogor City. The data collection technique used is the interview technique. The results show that the GULALI program is a form of manifestation of interpersonal communication, where interpersonal communication simultaneously has a positive and significant effect in fostering character awareness for students. This is reflected in research which shows that interpersonal communication has an impact on fostering character awareness through the application of the GULALI Program.
