Plorabunt: Killing People in Places of Prayer 1983-2023

Abstract

A large database of several thousands of assaults (carried out by suicide terrorists, killers, military operations, hidden operations) to people in places of prayer has been established. The “Plorabunt” database - created by fscire.it and the UNESCO Chair on Religious Pluralism and Peace has worked out through the EU Research Infrastructure Resilience in order to extract images and narratives from digital sources. This opens a new perspective on their interpretation in different theological perspectives and a different way of framing the killers’ profile. The study discusses four cases of different areas and different theological, cultural, and political milieu,
