Gert Biesta (www.gertbiesta.com) is Professor of Public Education in the Centre for Public Education and Pedagogy at Maynooth University, Ireland, and Professor of Educational Theory and Pedagogy at the Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. He is co-editor of the British Educational Research Journal and the Asia-Pacific Journal of Teacher Education, and associate editor of Educational Theory. He currently advises the Dutch government on the reform of the curriculum for primary and secondary schools. His work focuses on the theory of education and the theory and philosophy of educational and social research. He has a particular interest in teaching, teacher education, citizenship education, arts education, religious education, and education policy. Recent books include: World-Centred Education: A View for the Present (Routledge 2021); Educational Research: An Unorthodox Introduction(Bloomsbury 2020); Religion and education: The forgotten dimensions of religious education (co-edited with Patricia Hannam; Brill 2021). So far his work has appeared in 20 different languages.
