A Descriptive Study of Women's Rights in Islam

Abstract

This study presents an overview of women’s rights in Islam. It is common in recent years that there is a clear misunderstanding of this issue. Islam is accused of undermining women’s rights; as well as of cruelty against women, and of perpetuating the domination of the family and parents over women. It has become a research problem, and a knowledge gap, worthy of study and research. In this context, this study considers the rights of women in Islam. It aims to prove the high status of women in Islam. It refutes evidence and accusations leveled against Islam regarding the issue of women. The method used in this study is the qualitative method, specifically the descriptive analytical method. The findings indicate that women enjoy a prominent position in Islam. Islam preserves all the rights of women with a large package of laws and legislations. Likewise, a woman in Islam, whether she is young or old, whether she is a mother, sister or wife, and whether she is married, divorced or widowed, Islam treats women like a precious jewel in all cases. These results contribute to clarifying the rights of women in Islam. These findings may influence the creation of a different public opinion on the subject.
