The Protagonist of Ramayana and Mahabharata Proto-feminists or Victims of Their Circumstances: Women in Hinduism

Abstract

The paper looks at the ancient text form the Hindu religion to interpret whether the two main female protagonists are proto-feminist or victims of their circumstance. All in all both the protagonist were the first feminists in the Indian mythology, lighthousing the way for the millions of Indian women fighting for their rights and equality. They show the lines to millions in today’s world give a choice of discourse and re-discourse a lesson to stand up for one in the extreme situations. The women protagonists were women of substance who took hold of their lives and fought for their respect and rightful positions becoming an inspiration for the contemporary feminist.
