Tamar - Daughter of King David

Abstract

This project is about the rape of Tamar, daughter of King David by her step-brother Absalom. The project explores the betrayal of Tamar by both her father and step-brother and Tamar’s refusal to go quietly about her rape. Despite her vocal outrage she still loses her voice to her brother who decides to silence her and fight for her honor in a war with Absalom. Tamar moves from being the dutiful daughter, who loses the right to her body, her voice, and even her experiences by the men in her life who claim they have her best interest at heart when it is really their greed.
