Changing Society by Strengthening Beliefs: Demonstrating the Effectiveness of Islamic Beliefs in Individual and Social Transformation

Abstract

The science of Islamic belief (Ilm-ul-Aqidah) had been considered most valuable discipline among other disciplines of knowledge as it played an important, rather pivotal role in practical life. The purpose of this research is to address the effectiveness of Islamic belief system in transforming individual and social life. The systematic review of literature disclosed that belief system had a direct correlation with the human thought and actions and left an immense influence on cognitive and behavioural paradigm. Particularly, Islamic belief system stimulated mind, enlightened heart, corrected man’s world view, developed self-awareness, inner peace, satisfaction and broad-based vision. It encourages people to be responsible, accountable, patient, and target oriented in the practical life. This process of self transformation further led towards purging attitudes, developing good morals, promoting peace and prosperity into the society. In the light of the conclusions, It was therefore suggested that Islamic scholars should realize the significance of Islamic belief system and interpret it in rational, systematic and logical way. Furthermore, they are also encouraged to uncover the multidimensional effects of Islamic beliefs upon cognitive, behavioral, social, economic, political, civic, cultural and civilizational aspects of life. This exercise will promote a brotherhood, peace, harmony, and cooperation into the society and will also help in spreading the the universal peaceful message of Islam around the globe. Qualitative research technique was used for the collection, analysis, and demonstration of data.
