Shrimanta Sankardeva's Spiritual Principles and an Intricate Thread of Health Consciousness: Teachings from a Health Perspective

Abstract

Shrimanta Sankardeva a Vaishnavite Saint of Assam, from the north eastern part of India, preached a religious practice which focused on oneness with the Almighty. He understood the fine details of the community in this part of the world and preached on Bhakat Sang and Sewa. He wanted to instill in all a feeling of service, selflessness, psychological tranquil and thereby peace. A complete surrender to his ways following the four reals he mentioned, would surely ensure physical, mental, social and spiritual well being of mankind. His preachings caters to all faculties of mankind and hence can be adopted as a complete way of a healthy and fruitful, fulfilled life .From the perspective of Ayurveda, his teachings offer a scientific implementation of the basics of a healthy living.
