Abstract

Islam is a religion of ethnicdiversity and difference. Although, it is largely believed that there is a robust interconnection between religions, particularly monotheist ones, and ethnicity, Islam is neither a religion of a unique and specific ethnicity nor a particular territory. Islam is a religion of all human beings. Nowadays, there is a sort of consensus that Judaism is a religion of Jews, Christianity is a religion of Romans and Islam is a religion of Arabs. This belief stems from the idea that each ethnicity has its own religion and that the three main monotheist religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) are separate religions. In reality, there is one God (Allah), one religion, many messengers and many ethnicities from the prophet Abraham to the prophet Muhammad. My paper focuses on the idea that there is one God (Allah), one religion (Islam) and many messengers who were sent to different ethnicities. Indeed, Islam today is a resurrection of the religion of the prophets Abraham, David, Solomon, Moses and Jesus and all other prophets who were sent from Allah to all human beings to reveal the same divine message. From the days of the prophet Abraham till the arrival of the prophet Muhammad, each religion comes to resurrect and complete the previous one. My paper considers the idea that Islam is a religion of diversity. To clarify this idea, I have adopted the hermeneutics approach and use qualitative methods.
