Abstract
The aim of the study is to assess university students’ resilience towards violent extremism at educational institutions. The quantitative research design was used to conduct survey from the students belong to various public and private universities in Rawalpindi, Islamabad and KPK. Due to COVID-19 lock down and closure of universities, online survey technique was used by posting the survey on social media, using personal contact and email. The BRAVE scale was used to assess the students’ understanding and behaviors towards violent extremism. 480 students participated in the study during two months duration. The findings of the study demonstrated significant role of socio-cultural capital with the violent beliefs and violent behaviours among students. The study concluded that cultural, ethnic background, social string, support by the family and community contribute in resilience against violent extremist behaviours among university students. It is recommended that educational institutions should play their role in overcoming the students’ extremist behaviours by promoting tolerance and peace through curriculum and teaching practices.
