The Crisis of Muslims Identity in India : Decoding Past and Present

Abstract

Ideological changes have taken place and create a negative perception between Muslims and the rest of the world. It is important to mention that extremism can be a part of any religion. 9/11 has thrown up some unresolved issues which directly suspected the identity of Muslims. Muslims are negotiating for their identity worldwide but have failed to severe. Muslims, the religious minority of India have been facing segregation and prejudices. This research offers a systematic analysis of different layers of social exclusion, discrimination, inequality, and social violence like lynching in Indian society. How Muslims have been verbally attacked, demotivated, and alienated from past to present in India? Does one size fit all? Islam and Muslims have been vilified and become objects of suspension and discrimination. To blame Muslims is an easy way out and less controversial than to examine the core ideas of political parties that damage the identity of Islam worldwide through orchestrated means. The vast canvas of secular India overshadowed the identity of Muslims. This study seeks the politics and reality of Muslim’s identity in India with the monolithic ground of us and them scenario.
