Buddhist Psychology for Relapse Prevention With Co-occurring Disorders: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention

Abstract

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention are Third Wave Western psychological approaches that all derive directly from Buddhism. This interactive workshop will inform attendees on how to better understand the essential teachings of Buddhism, to better inform how to treat those suffering from co-occurring disorders. Buddhist psychology offers critical teachings to help those in recovery from chemical use disorders and process addictions to prevent their suffering, and cultivate joy and happiness while preventing relapse.
