The Role of Society in the Four Journeys Theory of Mulla Sadra

Abstract

Mulla Sadra is one of the Islamic Philosophers who founded Transcendent Philosophy (Hikmat al-muta‘aliya). One of his noble doctrines is the theory of “The Four Journey. “ He has divides the life of man on the way of perfection into four journeys. The first journey is from mankind towards God and concerned with the doctrine of being. The second journey is within the creator to know Him. The third journey deals with God and his attributes emphasizing on his power of creation and the fourth – and final- journey deals with people and the society. This study examines the role of people and society in gaining perfection according to the four journey theory by Mulla Sadra.
