The Effect of Religious Programs Based on Islam on Spiritual Health in Elderly Patients with Hypertension and Other Neurodegenerative Diseases Referring to Shiraz Health Centers in 2019

Abstract

Spirituality is an important component of Iranian beliefs, and a small amount of literature suggests that spirituality affects the management of hypertension in elderly with hypertension. Lack of spiritual health in patients with high blood pressure can lead to many psychological, social, and physical effects. On the other hand, given the prevalence of hypertension in the elderly, interventions to promote their spiritual health are necessary. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of religious programs, based on Islam, on mental health in elderly people with hypertension who referred to health centers in Shiraz. Racial differences are well documented in the prevalence of hypertension and its side effects. This article describes a conceptual model of spirituality that may be used to create interventions to increase drug adherence and lower blood pressure in Iranian elderly with hypertension, and even neurodegenerative stress related disease.
