Abstract
This article explores the developments in the quest by some Australian theologians and church leaders for an Australian Christology in the last decades of the 20th century. It argues that the proposition for an Australian Christology may as well be revisited today to enhance the theology, mission, and ministries of the churches in Australia. In order to construct an Australian Christology today, there is a need to pay close attention to the cultural diversity of the churches in Australia and its social landscape. The paper takes upon some current socio-political, economic, and religious issues such as the vulnerability of children in churches, social justice for asylum seekers, migration, and reconciliation with the traditional Australians to propose what may constitute a direction for an Australian Christology today.
