Abstract
The struggle to accommodate one another in the face of ethnic, religious and political differences among Nigerians is unarguably Nigeria’s biggest problem today. This has led to conflict in various forms which have claimed several lives and property in Nigeria. The aim of this research paper is to explore ways in which love can be inculcated to people through the religious bodies in Nigeria in other to achieve peaceful coexistence among Nigerians. The descriptive phenomenological method was adopted for the study due to the objectivity of the research. Focusing on the three religious’ groups in Nigeria, the research shows that love, as expressed by the religious book of the three main religious bodies in Nigeria, is expected to promote peaceful co-existence in the society, thereby reducing ethnic, religious and political differences among Nigerians. This paper recommends, among other things, that the religious bodies in Nigeria should employ all measures and strategies to form the conscience of the people with love as upheld in their religious book, by hosting programmes that enhance and develop people’s belief. This will improve peaceful coexistence across families, religious groups and various ethnic groups across the Nation. The paper therefore, concludes that if the religious bodies in Nigeria own up to the task of impacting the message of love as it is in their religious text, peaceful coexistence among Nigerians will be achieved and this will in turn, boost National development in Nigeria.
