Effects of Organizational Culture On The Performance of Staff of the Federal College Of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study examined the effect of organizational culture on the performance of staff of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population for the study encompasses all the staff of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. The sample was comprised of 200 randomly selected staff of Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Questionnaire was used for data collection, while four research questions were raised to guide the study. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage. The finding reveals the views and reactions of the staff towards the effect of organizational culture as it affects their performance. Also revealed was that, leadership styles, organizational climate, and organizational values are factors responsible for the performance of staff. Recommendations were therefore made based on the findings of the study that there should be training for staff, administrators, school management, and authorities on some principles that are important for effective productivity. Staff should be effectively motivated, economic rewards must not be offered alone, but recognition and opportunities for realizing various individual goal and aspirations must be created. In the same vein, top management should create an enabling environment and rules for both leaders and subordinates to carry out activities together, as this will give all staff a sense of belonging and hence increase their performance.
