Factors Influencing Knowledge-sharing Behavior in Public Organizations: An Analysis Based on Social-psychological Theories

Abstract

This study examines the influence of individual factors (rewards, altruism and Self-efficacy), relational factors (reciprocity, interpersonal trust and Social interaction), and cultural factors (organizational values, communication and top management support) on knowledge sharing behavior within public organizations. Based on a survey of 249 employees from Sonelgaz, this study applies the structural equation modeling approach to investigate the research model. The results show that individual factors including rewards, altruism and self-efficacy have a strong positive effect on knowledge sharing within Sonelgaz unlike relational and cultural factors.
