Abstract

The contemporary challenges for the healthcare sector are widely known, and many change efforts have been imposed to deal with them. This paper presents an insider perspective of these efforts, and how they are perceived and reflected upon from within. Semi-structured interviews with eight insiders construct a collective narrative that sheds light on these contemporary changes, and how changes are believed to be implemented to achieve success and vitality. The creation of conditions for change is believed to be a pivotal, but challenging, task. The future changes of the sector are also discussed, along with new possible threads for investigating in relation to this vast research area.
